Igby Goes Down

Media: Igby Goes Down (2002) Burr Steers

Igby Goes Down is a dramatic comedy that follows Igby (Kieran Culkin) as he matures into a rebellious adult while struggling to find his identity.  He is constantly on the run from his psychotic mother (Susan Sarandon) and the confinements of military academy. He escapes to his Godfather’s (Jeff Goldblum) mistress’s (Amanda Peet) studio-loft apartment where he develops a relationship with an older woman (Claire Danes).  Igby deals with reality by trying to live a regular life, but comes across several challenges.  Igby’s character is often compared to a modern day Holden Caulfield.

Besides for the apartment, the diner is the usual meet up spot for Igby and Sookie (Claire Danes).  The milkshake Sookie orders looks delicious and inspired me to look up and share some ingredients for the best milkshake recipes. Take a look:

Design: Studio – Loft Space

Igby’s Godfather, D.H., keeps his mistress hidden in a studio-loft apartment in the city.  The space is beautiful, open, and white.  This style is very trendy and easy to fall in like with.  Here are some photos of simple and chic white studio-loft spaces.

True Blood

Media: True Blood

This HBO drama series is one of my favorites.  Set in Bon Temp Louisiana, this fictional town comes to life through the realistic portrayal of humans and vampires coexisting.  Sookie Stackhouse (Anny Paquin) works as a waitress at Merlotte’s, Bon Temps’s local bar and falls in love with Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a 173-year-old vampire that happens to be her neighbor.  The inherent differences that exist between them constantly put their love to the test.  The acting, set, and production of True Blood makes this fantasy world of supernatural beings an enjoyable show to watch.

Sookie looks super cute in her Merlotte’s uniform.  I found that HBO sells her adorable outfit online - now you can dress like Sookie and the other waitresses!
